Inventive ability in the Morettian graphology

Intuition, as described above, operates through intelligence skills in:

  • precise observation of every small but significant variation occurring in the environment;
  • variations assembling in order to identify relevant patterns present in the specific context which could be useful for interpretation or adaptation.

Such ability is based on a simple premise: all life manifestations, though linked to uniqueness and consequently to differentiation (this is true both if we are talking about two raindrops and about two apparently very similar life events) cannot be understood separately, but receive their specific meaning from their context. Moreover, apparently different events can fall under the very same interpretation criteria.

Therefore, the personality skill to connect with its own creative movement requires the ability to express both the above mentioned movements inside itself: that is, to recognize the endless variations belonging to life itself  by entering into resonance with them, as a starting point to get subsequently to grasp the structures, laws, great interpretative principles leading life, as in the world, though facing an impressive manifestation of uniqueness with a perfectly defined identity  it is also present an equally impressive evidence of harmonic consistency of the different facets of uniqueness.

Such an intuitive understanding of the laws connected with creativity led Moretti to describe the graphological sign “Methodically Uneven” as a measure of the personality originality, which needs – as prerequisites – both the following characteristics:

  1. the uninterrupted variation of the writing, as a measure of the personality skill to connect with the uniqueness  present inside life itself;
  2. the notion of rhythm, here defined as “method”, as a measure of the personality skill to connect and understand variations identifying the underlying reference frames.
  • Fig. 1 – Newton handwriting, showing in a high degree both prerequisite, unevenness and method in graphic variation.
    Handwriting: Isaac Newton

Somehow, as uniqueness belongs to life, no handwriting can be without unevenness, because it cannot exist – in life, but above all, in man and woman – something devoid of uniqueness, therefore of originality; at the same time, it is very difficult to imagine a total lack of method, that is, of the ability to process simple data and organize them according to frames made for  learning and understanding the environment: elsewhere, we would obtain a totally split personality.

The following graphological and psychological features are to be evaluated: the level of variation capacity, its  diffusion and methodicity, which produce the sign “Methodically Uneven” and “Randomly Uneven”.

  • Fig. 2 – Example of methodic but not widespread variation (the sign Methodically Uneven shows sometimes)
    Handwriting: Methodically Uneven
  • Fig. 3 – Example of widespread but not methodical variation (Randomly Uneven).

    Handwriting: Randomly Uneven

Whenever such unevenness is very slight – to the point of giving an impression of variationless writing – here we find a kind of intelligence not original but inclined to technique (graphological sign “Even”), that is to an impersonal use of “passed on” rules, without the screening of the creative interpretations  performed by the Ego, a situation that may sometimes be of advantage.
